Screenings & Evaluations
We will begin with an evaluation to assess current speech, language, and feeding skills. This helps us identify challenges, set therapy goals, and make a plan to help you reach them.
Our evaluation process includes a parent interview, clinical observations, and formal testing in all areas of need. Once the evaluation is complete, your therapist will share their recommendations, provide you with a home program, and make referrals to other professionals as needed.
Our Therapy Approach
At Professional Speech Associates, we take a personalized approach to therapy. Everything we do is purposeful, evidence-based, and tailored to your specific needs.
We are committed to working alongside your family and collaborating with other professionals. Our team frequently partners with occupational therapists, physical therapists, ENTs, dentists, orthodontists, oral surgeons, and other professionals to get the best results in therapy.
Speech Therapy
Speech therapy focuses on helping your child develop the communication skills they need to express themselves and connect with others. Each session is designed to be fun and engaging— using play, board games, and interactive social activities to build new skills! Our goal is to help your child:
Express themselves through speech or AAC
Speak clearly and use accurate speech sounds
Understand what others say and follow directions
Process verbal information
Our speech therapists will also provide home practice activities and equip you with strategies to support your child’s growth outside of speech therapy.

in Coral Springs, FL
What is Orofacial Myofunctional Therapy?
Myofunctional therapy addresses the underlying cause of breathing, swallowing, and speech challenges. We take a collaborative approach to therapy, working with dentists, orthodontists, oral surgeons, ENTs, pediatricians, and other professionals to make therapy successful.
What We Treat & Who We Work With
We treat individuals with orofacial myofunctional disorders (OMDs) that affect the face and mouth muscles involved in breathing, swallowing, chewing, and speaking. Our certified orofacial myologists work with people of all ages, including adults, teens, and children ages 4 and up.
Signs & Symptoms of a Myofunctional Disorder
Trouble swallowing or needing to use extra effort to get food or drinks down.
Weakness in the tongue, lips, or cheeks that makes eating or talking more difficult.
The tongue pushing forward when speaking or swallowing (tongue thrust).
Ongoing drooling past the toddler years.
Speech that’s hard to understand or is not clear.
Struggling to breathe through the nose and relying on mouth breathing.
Restless sleep, snoring, or feeling tired even after a full night’s sleep.
Braces not working as expected or teeth shifting back out of place.
Myofunctional Therapy Can Help Children, Teens, & Adults:
Keep the tongue resting in the correct spot and lips closed, which helps with breathing, speech, and facial growth.
Reduce tongue thrust and drooling.
Make speech easier to understand by improving how the tongue and mouth work together.
Improve swallowing.
Build stronger mouth and jaw muscles for clearer speech and improved breathing and/or swallowing.
Avoid orthodontic relapse.
Spot signs of airway problems like mouth breathing or snoring that may affect sleep.
Address tongue or lip ties and the associated myofunctional challenges.
Feeding Therapy
Pediatric feeding therapy focuses on helping your baby or child develop the skills they need to eat and drink successfully. Our sessions will incorporate oral motor exercises, eating and drinking practice, engaging tasks like whistles and bubbles, and trials of different bottles, spoons, and feeding tools. We will tailor each session to your child’s needs to help them:
Use their mouth muscles to suck, chew, and swallow safely
Eat a greater variety of foods and textures
Nurse or feed themselves successfully
Reduce drooling
Our feeding therapists will coach your family every step of the way. You will walk away with knowledge, strategies, and resources to make mealtimes an enjoyable and successful experience for everyone.
